hello... since it will have been five months since their last gig (and since band members will have time off for the holidays), Bedhead is planning a few shows in the midwest for december. the dates are (thursday) 12/12, (friday) 12/13, and (saturday) 12/14. i should probably remind you that i am the band's booking agent and any ideas or info you have in helping decide where Bedhead should play should be sent to me,(and not the _previous_ Bedhead e-mail list address, Bedhead000@aol.com). i should also mention that cities Bedhead has already played more than once this year (ie- chicago) will probably not be part of this stint... more good news... rough trade records, Bedhead's overseas label, is releasing a new single for the _Beheaded_ track "The Rest Of The Day"... the 7" version will include one unreleased track; the cd version will include two unreleased songs. i don't have release date info yet (the single may be released in conjunction with a bedhead european tour sometime in the future) but i can tell you that this will be available in the US as an import only. the single should also not be confused with 1993's "The Rest Of The Day"/"I'm Not Here" 7" on direct hit records... speaking of 1993's "The Rest Of The Day"/"I'm Not Here" 7", as well as other things Bedhead handles mailorder for themselves (like t-shirts, tour posters, and some of their trance syndicate titles), some people have been writing asking about how they can mailorder Bedhead stuff... i'm not sure what t-shirt designs or posters are still available...i know there are about 150 copies left of the previously mentioned 7" on direct hit. for a more up to date catalog you can send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Bedhead PO Box 720935 Dallas, TX 75372 *after december 1996, Bedhead will no longer be serving orders for their t-shirts and trance syndicate catalog. the po box will still be available for posters and the direct hit 7"... all of Bedhead's catalog on trance syndicate records is available through touch and go mailorder. call 1-800-3-TOUCH-U to request a free catalog. lastly, i'd like to apologise to anyone who recieved more than one copy of the last Bedhead e-mail list update...a rookie mistake... thanks, josh
OOPS! >more good news... >rough trade records, Bedhead's overseas label, is releasing a new single >for the _Beheaded_ track "The Rest Of The Day"... the rough trade single is for "What's Missing", NOT "The Rest Of The Day"... it was originally supposed to be for "The Rest Of The Day" but was changed recently... my bad, josh

hello again folks, after receiving some e-mail with someone asking if Bedhead's tentative Dallas show on Friday, March 21st was still happening, i figured i should probably let ya'll in on the changes that have taken place since the last update... it seems that a number of the dates for the tentative cities Bedhead had initially set out to play were during spring break. so, we decided to move the tour back a bit and reverse the routing. even though there are a couple dates unconfirmed, i'm almost positive that the tour will go as such: 3-26 Lafayette (W)...Metropolis 3-27 Tallahassee (TH)...Cow Haus + Macha 3-28 Gainesville (F)...TBA + Macha 3-29 Athens/Atlanta (SA)...TBA + Macha 3-30 Chapel Hill (SU)...Cat's Cradle 3-31 Charlottesville (M)...Tokyo Rose 4-1 Baltimore (TU)...Maryland Institute -College of Art + Windsor For The Derby 4-2 Princeton University (W)...Campus Club + Windsor For the Derby 4-3 New York (TH)...Knitting Factory + Windsor For the Derby and Home 4-4 Brunswick, ME (F)...Bowdoin College -Daggett Lounge 4-5 Boston (SA)...TT the Bear's + Windsor For the Derby 4-7 Cleveland (M)...Speak In Tongues 4-8 Detroit (T)...Blind Pig 4-9 Champaign (W)...Blind Pig 4-10 Columbia, MO (TH)...TBA 4-11 Memphis (F)...TBA 4-12 Dallas (SA)...Galaxy and before anyone in Chicago feels left out, the band has just informed me today, (since they will be doing some recording up there in May) a May 10th date at the Empty Bottle wouldn't be out of the question... i'll keep you posted... -josh
ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the final installment of the Bedhead Spring 1997 Eastern U.S. Tour updates! now that i've personally finished silkscreening the band's tour posters (a bit behind schedule), i can take the time to fill in the blanks on a couple of past, present and future dates since we've last spoke: 3-26 Lafayette (W)...Metropolis 3-27 Tallahassee (TH)...Cow Haus + Macha 3-28 Gainesville (F)...Covered Dish + Macha 3-29 Athens (SA)...40 Watt + Macha 3-30 Chapel Hill (SU)...Cat's Cradle 3-31 Charlottesville (M)...Tokyo Rose 4-1 Baltimore (TU)...Maryland Institute -College of Art + Windsor For The Derby 4-2 Princeton University (W)...Campus Club + Windsor For the Derby 4-3 New York (TH)...Knitting Factory + Windsor For the Derby and Home 4-4 Brunswick, ME (F)...Daggett Lounge @ Bowdoin College 4-5 Boston (SA)...TT the Bear's + Windsor For the Derby 4-7 Cleveland (M)...Speak In Tongues 4-8 Detroit (T)...Magic Stick 4-9 Champaign (W)...Blind Pig 4-10 Columbia, MO (TH)...Down Under 4-11 Memphis (F)...Barristers 4-12 Dallas (SA)...Galaxy + Peter Schmidt about 100 copies of the previously mentioned tour posters (19" x 27", 3-color, lovingly silkscreened by hand with all dates, cities and venues listed) will be available for purchase from the band starting on the NYC date of this tour (4-3-97)...any remaining copies will likely be available for a reasonable price through Bedhead's PO Box...i'll let you know if and when... also, Bedhead still has a tentative date on hold at the Empty Bottle, in Chicago, for Saturday, May 10th...the band wants to make sure this show doesn't conflict with any recording plans they have that week in the city, but if you ask me, i think it's going to happen... thanks for your time, josh
SECOND HALF OF BEDHEAD SPRING TOUR CANCELLED With much regret, Bedhead and I wish to inform you that the second leg of the spring tour has been cancelled due to the severe illness of the band's singer, Matt. What we had hoped was simply the flu or food poisoning on Tuesday, has worsened in the past four days, rendering him nearly incapacitated, much less able to play guitar and sing. He is currently in route to his home in Boston where he will be treated, for what we now believe to be Mono, at a local hospital. The band and I apologize to all of you who were looking forward to these dates, as they were too. Cancelled dates are as follows: 4-5 Boston (SA)...TT the Bear's + Windsor For the Derby 4-7 Cleveland (M)...Speak In Tongues 4-8 Detroit (T)...Magic Stick 4-9 Champaign (W)...Blind Pig 4-10 Columbia, MO (TH)...Down Under 4-11 Memphis (F)...Barristers 4-12 Dallas (SA)...Galaxy + Peter Schmidt Unfortunately, in the flurry of recent events, the band and I have not had time to address the rescheduling of these dates, as well as Tuesday night's show at the Maryland Institute College of Art (which Bedhead were also forced to cancel). I will keep you informed of any news as I am updated from the band. Thank you for your time and patience, Josh PS- Bedhead's Saturday, May 10th date at the Empty Bottle, in Chicago, is still on, as well as the recording plans they have scheduled there for early May.
Since quite a few people have inquired about purchasing the most recent tour posters, we thought that we should send out some info about them. They are 3-color, 19x27, silk-screened posters on card stock. They were limited to a printing of 200 copies. We sold them at shows for $5, but the mailing costs will be high ($2 tube+$2-3postage), which we know from past experience, so we will be selling them for $10 through the mail. A well-concealed $10 bill is preferred. Send to: BEDHEAD P.O. Box 720935 Dallas, TX 75372 USA Since the band is not going to be doing any more mailorder (except for the posters and whatever else is left) or selling of merchandise at shows, here is an update on what is left: There are NO CD or LP copies of any of the 4 Trance releases left. There are also no more t-shirts. 25 cassette copies of the "4-songCDEP19:10" - $5.00ppd 50 "Rest of the Day"/"I'm Not Here" 7"s - $5.00ppd 40 German 1994 Tour Posters (16x26, 2color) - $8.00ppd 100 Summer 1996 Tour Posters (18x24, 3color) - $8.00ppd 100 Spring 1997 Tour Posters (the ones mentioned above) - some of the dates may have been cancelled, but the posters still look good. *we'll throw in a few old, smaller posters with each poster order while they last. Again, concealed cash is preferred. Thanks a lot and the band hopes to re-schedule some of the shows that had to be cancelled. Sorry about any inconvenience. -josh

There were some serious typos in the last update...it was very late when I wrote the update, I apologise. There will be no Detroit date...here's how it should have read: Hello again, As i mentioned in the last update, Bedhead is playing a few Texas dates in August...but with a roadtrip to Boston planned for Bubba and Matt following the Texas shows, the two decided to do a couple of shows on the way. Here are the August dates: BEDHEAD: 8-15 Dallas (F)...Galaxy Club + Peter Schmidt 8-16 Austin (SA)...Liberty Lunch + ...Trail Of The Dead, Drain KADANE BROS.: 8-19 New York (TU)...Brownies 8-20 Boston (W)...TT The Bear's It'll be Matt and Bubba (two electric guitars) playing in New York, with Tench joining the two in Boston (three electric guitars)... Hello everyone, We've been a little lazy getting you the latest Bedhead news, so here it goes all at once. (Hopefully, everyone's e-mail addresses made the transition from the old list manager to the new.) On February 10, we'll finally release _Transaction de Novo_, a LP of nine new songs (Trance Syndicate in North America, Trance/Southern Records (not Rough Trade) everywhere else). For those of you with record players, this release will be on 180 gram virgin vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve. We all agree that the vinyl sounds better than the CD, even if you have a fairly average record player. Vinyl buyers will also save a couple bucks. (Remember, the data on all CDs are set to expire Dec. 31, 1999.) We'll also begin a tour in March. We don't yet know all the dates, but we'll go from East to West and try to hit all the major cities, except, unfortunately, those in Canada. If anyone has in particular requests, our new booking agent is the very approachable Frank Riley at Monterey Peninsula Artists ph. 408-375-4889; fax 408-375-2623. We're planning this tour now, so the sooner you catch him the better. There will be dates announced soon. Also, the new e-mail mailing list address: BEDHEADWWW@aol.com. The new official Web Page at http://members.aol.com/bedheadwww/ is up and running. A few kinks have to be worked out (mainly for viewing through an AOL browser - Netscape viewing, on ver. 3.0 at least, seems fine) and it will probably go through some changes, but we wanted to go ahead and get something up before the new record and tour. We promise to keep this updated as much as we can. We're all really looking forward to playing and seeing everyone again. (And we'll do our best to keep the illnesses at a minimum.) BEDHEAD

Hello, Since everyone survived the west coast tour, I guess we're headed for the other half of the country after all. Things actually went really well out west. We thank everyone who came out and made the shows so enjoyable for us. We all endured nasty road induced colds and sinus infections, and I apologize if we seemed either unsightly or unenthusiastic. But we've found the right medications, the vitamins that actually work--I think we'll be at full capacity by April. Hello, Just a quick note for those in the Rhode Island area. The show on Thursday, April 23 has moved from the Bear's Lair on the Brown Campus to the Safari Lounge in downtown Providence. Supposedly, the Bear's Lair was too small so the people putting on the show decided to move it. Thanks, BEDHEADMay 7, 1998:

Hello everyone, Here is a post tour update. There is a 10" single in the works. Please don't write to ask questions about it just yet. Release information will be forthcoming soon. We really want to thank everyone who helped us organize the European tour and who accommodated us so generously. It was a lot of fun and we couldn't have done without, especially, the help of Agostino, David, Dominica, Rene, Adam, de Konk, and Pierpaolo. Something else about which we have received many e-mails: live recordings. We have a few live recordings that we haven't even listened to yet. We have no plans to release any of them, but if we do, this list will be the first to know. Here's is some relevant information for new subscribers: Trance Syndicate/Emperor Jones e-mail: EJRecords@aol.com Website: http://members.aol.com/bedheadwww/ If you have a friend who you would like to subscribe to the list, just put "Subscribe" in the subject heading and send your request to this address (BEDHEADWWW@aol.com). If you would like to cancel your subscription, type "Unsubscribe" in the subject heading. Thanks, BEDHEADAug 4, 1998:
BEDHEAD Final Message To all whom this may concern: Bedhead is breaking up. We are all still friends--friendship has nothing to do with this. But we can no longer sustain the band over distance (five members spread over, now, three states), through time (it has been seven years), or bearing our other responsibilities (children, wives, work, school, and all the rest). It is now nearly impossible to learn new songs, and none of us wants to play in a Bedhead tribute band. More to the point, we don’t want to tour anymore, and it is by touring that we’ve compensated for being spread across the country. If it weren’t for the distance would we still be breaking up? I think all of us agree that if it weren’t for the distance we would have broken up and killed each other, in that order, three years ago. I also think all of us, but especially Bubba and I, would consider splitting up the band a mistake if we hadn’t made three LPs, two EPs, a ten-inch, and two seven-inches that we weren’t proud of. We poured into those records every ounce of conviction, feeling, and musical ability that we possessed at the time. And if time is a fair judge, those records will outlive the band. But I don’t think any of us believes Bedhead could have gone through the process required to make another good record. For these last four years during which we’ve lived apart, we’ve been coasting on momentum gained from intense practicing from 91-94. Coasting, if not occasionally drifting for fours years--it goes without saying that the speed is bound to diminish. Everyone who has helped us tour and make records, everyone who has bought our records, and all the people who have come to see our shows have made these last seven years some of the best we’ve ever known. We’re especially grateful to King and Craig, Josh R., Substitute Schmidt, Steve A., Mark E., A. Wiltzie, Frank R., Frank G., Robert W., Skippy, Amy T., Gilbert G., J. McFadden, Kelly K., D, el Hobbito, Motley, Gallaway and Donofrio, SKWM, Come, Medfield, YLT, everyone at Touch and Go and Southern, Agostino, Davido, Rubin, Forbes, Bob M., B.O.T.H., B.O.S., the Lunch, the Bottle, our families, and our van, Dewayne. The list has to end somewhere on paper, but there are obviously more to thank, from people whom we seemed almost seasonally to stay with while touring, to promoters, journalists and other bands who helped us gain an audience. Because it’s so inevitable and ubiquitous, a band disbanding should not necessarily be a sad event. Bubba and I made music for over a decade before Bedhead formed; in some form we’ll continue. Tench is starting graduate school in the fall. Trini will accidentally build a house with his bare hands in the near future. And Wheat? God only knows. A statistic or a household name by the turn of the millennium. In any case, we’ll all still see each other, just not with strung guitars around our necks or drumsticks in hand. The email address will cease to exist after this message is sent out. Orders for records can be directed to Touch and Go or Trance. The last bit of news we'll relate is that we have a new ten-inch, "Lepidoptera/Leper," which was generally mentioned above, coming out in October. We've always enjoyed this email list. Sorry we couldn't answer everyone personally all the time, but Bubba, who has handled the list for the last couple years, and I, who used to do it before then, have both read all the letters we've received with smiles on our faces, lumps in our throats, or fingers ready to dial 911. We still have your addresses, so don't be alarmed if at some unspecified point in the future you all hear from us again. Thanks, Matt and Bubba P.S. The following address: BEDHEAD P.O. Box 720935 Dallas, TX 75372 USA will remain active at least through the end of the year. There are still a few posters and 7-inches left. Write if you are interested.
